Soling Choices

Unless specified all Green Shoes for Men and Women are available in a choice of 3 soling materials.

a) Crepe Rubber
This is our standard soling material- it is soft, comfortable and acts as a good shock absorber. The crepe we use comes from rubber plantations in Sri Lanka, and is a renewable resource. When the crepe has been worn smooth it can become slippery; time for a resole! The crepe is bleached white but in wear this natural material rapidly takes on a grey colour.   Crepe can be affected adversely by direct heat, petrol and some solvents.

We can make the crepe sole into a wedge shaped sole or a plain traditional shaped sole with a heel

b) Wedge Rubber
The Vibram Wedge is an attractive black wedge shaped sole with a ridged base to enhance its non-slip characteristics.
It particularly suits the women's designs as is very durable and also our lightest sole.

c) Tractor Sole
Our heaviest type of Vibram sole - ideal for those who are heavy on their shoes or who walk miles over rougher terrain. Cleated and very hard wearing, it is also the best looking sole for most of the men's range and many of the women's styles. Available in black or brown.
